What is Trellis & Vault?

Trellis & Vault provides personalized plans for wines to age in your home cellar. We incorproate your cellar size, wine preferences and favorites into a tailored set of recommendations. We can also help support as you select the wines to build out your home cellar over time.

How do membership tiers work?

You can pair either option of Cellar Design (Cru or Premier Cru) with either option of Cellar Support (750ml or 1.5L) depending on your needs. You must have a Cellar Design plan first, before joining as a Cellar Support Member.

You can also just purchase a Cellar Design plan, without any ongoing support. Our designers would love to work with you on your ideal Cellar Design plan, that you can then maintain on your own.

Can I gift someone a membership to Trellis & Vault?

Yes! You can gift a membership - there are several gift card options available here.

Can I upgrade my Cellar Support from 750ml to 1.5L in the middle of the year?

Yes, absolutely. We’ll pro-rate it.

Can I cancel my Cellar Support plan at any time?

At any time, you may cancel your membership renewal. Send an email to customercare@trellisandvault.com and your membership will not renew. Note that there are not refunds for partially unused membership periods.

Can you evaluate the contents of my current cellar?

Yes, our Cellar Designers can review the contents of your current cellar, and take that into consideration when recommending your end Cellar Design. Just be sure to select the Premier Cru Cellar Design plan.

How long does it take to receive my Cellar Design plan?

Design time will vary depending on your cellar size and plan. Generally, after completing your personal survey, the initial recommendation can be delivered within a week.

Do you provide guidance on when to drink wines in my cellar?

Yes, your Cellar Design plan will make a recommendation for a time horizon (range of years) in which you can enjoy your wines.

Can you provide Cellar Design plans for international customers?

Yes, we can create Cellar Design plans for anyone in the world. We will try to accommodate what varietals and regions are most accessible for you to procure within your country. At this time we can only accommodate Cellar Support customers who are in certain states within the United States

Do I need a professional wine cellar for a Trellis & Vault plan?

No. You just need to make sure you have a good consistent, temperate place to store them (45-65 degrees is ideal) - a cool basement, without too much humidity works well. Store your wine horizontally and keep it away from too much light and vibration (not next to the dryer in the laundry room!)

What does a plan cost?

Our Cellar Design plans range from $199-$299, which is a one-time fee. We also have Cellar Support plans which range from $10 to $30 a month, which is billed annually. Aging wine is a long-term process, and we believe you see the benefits a year at a time - which is why we don't offer a month to month plan.

Do you have special access to hard-to-find wines?

We have a number of relationships with producers that sell the majority of their wines directly at the winery. We are also very familiar with and can guide you through the process of purchasing futures / en primeur wines (e.g., in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont). However, our goal is also to help you discover the amazing experience of aging a $15 wine from a solid producer that tastes like $115 a few years later.

What is your cancellation / refund policy?

Your Cellar Designer will work hard to ensure you are fully satisfied with your personal plan, and with the Premier Cru plan, you have the option of working through any number of revisions until you are fully satisfied. We do not currently offer cancellations or refunds.

Can I order wines through Trellis & Vault?

Yes, we provide private wine buying services through our Cellar Support plans.

How much do you charge when shipping wines?

Nobody likes paying for shipping. Even in wine. We aim to charge zero shipping fees on as many orders as possible, but guaranteed no more than $20.
